Silverstone

(30/31 May 2015) After a successful first two rounds of the VW Cup championship, local racing driver David Sutton headed to the home of British motorsport, Silverstone, with the Championship lead. David went into qualifying with high hopes, however, with no dry weather testing there were no certainties going into qualifying. Despite that here was no stopping David as he took his 3rd pole of the season by a massive 8 tenths of a second.

As race one came around on Sunday morning the weather had taken w turn for the worse and it was raining hard. After a solid start he managed to lead for the first 3 laps. Unfortunately an error with tyre pressure choice meant the car was lacking grip. David didn’t let this worry him and managed to wrestle the car home to a creditable fourth place and collected valuable championship points

Race two meant third place on the grid. After another of his trademark fast starts David was up to second before the first corner, he then managed to pull off the overtaking manoeuvre of the weekend and bravely went round the outside of his closest championship contender to take the lead. After pushing hard in the early stages of the race to establish a gap on his rivals, the remainder of the race was just about managing the gap to second place and bringing the car home safely for his fourth victory of the year. These results meant that David has now extended his championship lead to 30 points.

“I got a fantastic start and managed to pass Aaron Mason into the first corner, around the outside, and from there on I saw that the guys behind me were battling so I did one fast lap to pull away and then settled into a rhythm to get home the car, which ran faultlessly. Unfortunately the budget is now spent and I need to find more if I am to defend my lead at Spa next month. If that was my last race, at least I have ended on a high. I also would like to thank my sponsors Avago Karting at Swinton, and also the new energy drink Wild Coq. Please check out their websites Avago Karting and Wild Coq for further information.
